Tony Phillis

BVSc GCert SAECC, SAU

Tony graduated from James Cook University School of Veterinary Science in 2015 and entered a large equine and small animal practice in Townsville, dividing his time between the small animal hospital, and the equine teaching hospital supervising and teaching final year veterinary students from JCU. He concurrently undertook two Graduate Certificates in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care and Small Animal Ultrasonography from Melbourne University. 

Three years after graduation Tony joined the Greencross Townsville team as an associate veterinarian working across their many small animal clinics, becoming Veterinary Director of Greencross Vets Deeragun in 2019.

Tony’s passion is all things surgical, especially in small animals, and is currently studying to sit membership examinations in 2022. Other areas of interest include Canine Heartworm Disease, Radioactive Iodine (I131) treatment of Feline Hyperthyroidism, Ultrasonography and Emergency and Critical Care.

When not working, Tony spends time with his family and 2 very spoilt Afghan Hounds, travelling and fishing on the Great Barrier Reef. Oh, and of course studying.
